Here for new parents, because we’ve been there.

My family’s story

In 2023, my wife and I welcomed our son into the world. His lungs needed a little extra time to develop, so he spent some time in the NICU and came home on an oxygen tank. We made it through that stressful first month, and our son (pictured above) is now a happy, healthy preschooler.

But once he was off the oxygen tank, we faced another challenge: the medical bills.

First, the oxygen company sent us a bill. In the sleep-deprived chaos of newborn life, my wife and I each paid it separately. They kept the double payment without a word.

Then a few months later, another bill arrived for the exact same services, but this time it was 10x higher. There was no explanation, and no reference to our previous payments. Just an official-looking document demanding more money while we were still trying to find our footing as new parents.

I tried calling the oxygen company, but got nowhere. For a while we ignored it, hoping the charge was a mistake, but the bills kept coming. Eventually, they escalated: “Final notice before collections.”

So we paid it, not wanting our credit to get wrecked, but I also sent emails asking for an explanation. Their response? "Whoops! Our bad, we never really meant that. Of course we’ll send a refund!"

And I couldn’t help but wonder…

Our experience left me thinking - how many other families are getting bills like this? How many new parents, already exhausted and overwhelmed, just pay whatever shows up in the mail because fighting it feels hopeless?

The answer, it turns out, is a lot. Medical billing errors are shockingly common, and the system is designed to be confusing. Most people don't have the time, energy, or knowledge to push back.

I started Medvo to do the pushing for them.

How Medvo helps

Medvo reviews your medical bills for errors and fights to get you refunds.

You only pay us when we save you money - no upfront costs, no risk. Just someone in your corner who's been where you are.

With our second child due this summer, Medvo’s mission is personal to me. I'm building the service I wish we had when we needed it.
